World History 101: From the lens of Africa

World History 101 -is an online course offered by the educators from Indigo Nation Homeschool Association. The goal of the class is to give students a survey of world history from the earliest records of human activity to the year 1500 A. D. The class is suitable for students 12 years old and older ( or possibly younger if such students can read and comprehend on a 7th grade level. ) The class will be offered via Google Hangout; with the capacity to host 10 computers or apple/android devices. Below are a class description and a basic syllabus for the first 7 week session.
World History 101 endeavors to teach the world history in a chronologically accurate way. We will begin with the earliest of the human records which are to be found in Africa. Using articles, maps, timelines and book chapters we will move from pre-history through to one of the most advance civilizations the world has ever known – Nile Valley Civilization.
August 5th, 2014 – Course introduction: Definitions, maps & note taking
August 12th, 2014 – Africa: Continent of Origins -group discussion and activity
August 19th, 2014- African Women and the beginning of African Civilization – group discussion and activity
August 26th, 2014 – Ancient Nubia
September 2nd, 2014- Ancient Kemet
September 9th, 2014- Ancient Nubia
September 16, 2014- Ancient Axum
